From the operating room to the longevity clinic

Dr. Meredith Sweeney spent 14 years as a bariatric and general surgeon in Louisville, Kentucky. In the operating room she saw what decades of metabolic dysfunction do to a body. Her surgery fixed those consequences. But she wanted to reach the cause.
Her path runs through the conventional system. She earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2006, completed general surgery residency at the University of Louisville in 2011, and went on to pursue a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery in 2012. In her bariatric surgery career spanning from 2014 to 2025, she trailblazed new techniques, performing the first robotic general surgery procedures at her hospital, re-wrote bariatric nutrition protocols and helped her patients lose over 10,000 lbs cumulatively. During that time she was named one of Louisville Magazine's Top Docs and Louisville Business First named her to its 40 Under Forty list.
Her self-education in metabolic health led her to longevity medicine, which she turned from a hobby into a successful medical practice in Louisville, KY in 2025. She collects and analyzes complex sets of data and turns them into personalized longevity optimization plans for her patients. The goal is to identify what is pushing a patient towards the chronic diseases of aging decades before the traditional medical system and empower patients with the knowledge and tools to change course while there is still time. The outcome: patients optimize their health both now AND for the long run. Her private practice has grown so quickly that there is now a wait-list to become a patient at Sano Longevity.
